A Heart Warming Moment
While working as a home visitor, I was seeing a mom who was bilingual. Mom spoke English but the child only spoke Spanish. As the months went on and I visited the family twice a week, I noticed that the child language had increased in both English and Spanish. One day I was preparing to leave the home and mom stopped me and said, "I appreciate everything you have done for me and my child. Before you started visiting, she barley talked now she is talking well in both Languages". I explained to mom that I was only doing my job and talked her for acknowledging my dedication to her and her child. This was a touching moment to me, because it warms my heart to know that I had part in helping that child with language development. Sometimes your greatest accomplishment in life is helping others.

Brittany, it is a joy when a parent acknowledges their child's teacher/mentor for their part in helping the child succeed. I know you felt proud of yourself and proud for that child. Wonderful story :)
ReplyDeleteBrittany, your post is really sweet. I don't think we even realize the small things we do sometimes that touch other people's lives. This is because we never know what the next person in experiencing behind the scenes. your post warms my heart, and makes me remember to always be the best at whatever you do, even if it seems very small to us. It could be life changing for another.
