Communication

One person that I know who demonstrates competent communication is my boss. While in meetings she make sure that she makes eye contact with each and every one of us in the meeting at some point.  She leaves the floor open for us to give our opinion. One someone has the floor she makes sure that she gives them her full attention.  She never have her cell phone on her when she attend the meeting and she is always on time. If she has something to talk to someone one on one about she makes sure to ask them to stay after the meeting instead of discussing it in front of everyone.  She is always professional when commuting with her staff.

  1. Brittany,
Do you feel that, by having a boss who is attentive and communicates well, you are more likely to stay at your current place of employment? Does it affect your performance? I am curious because I know that communication is incredibly important to me on a professional level and as a Director, but I am interested in other's perspective on the matter.

Thank you for any feedback you can provide!

    Best,
    Anne-Marie

  2. During meetings at work, effective communication is the best thing especially with your boss. Not having her cell phone on and paying attention to everyone's opinion is very good. I will hope that all bosses will do that. My boss is also the same. Thanks for sharing. Dora Adafom

  3. Hi Brittany,
It appears that your boss is a great communicator. It is very important to make eye contact when speaking. If not all the time but at least to let the person know you are actively engaged with them. To open the floor for ideas also demonstrates that she is not opinionated. It is really fortunate to have your boss as an example. You will be able to adopt alof her positive communication skills.

  4. Hello Brittany,
Such a nice post about your administrator. I am sure that it makes a difference in your job to know that you have someone that you can sit and discuss a problem with.
