Five Stages of Team Development

One of the hardest groups that I had to leave would be my last job. We were a small team and worked so hard to start up a new program with trial and error.  I believe that is what made us so close. We were like family, working longer hours trying to get the program off the ground without help from our director. When  it was time for me to leave, my team was very sadden by the news, but they wanted nothing but the best for me. My last day there they threw me a going away party. I really miss my team but  not the environment that we worked in.
When adjourning from this program I imagine that we will all get a chance to meet at the graduation. I have had several classes with most of the ladies in this course. I have gained so much insight from them and also learned about them without actually meeting them. We have encouraged  and supported each other throughout the program and I will miss being able to read blogs and discussions for the ladies I have been with for the last year. Adjourning is an essential part of team work because it shows growth.

  1. Brittany,
Well Said! Your post was short but exactly on point! I hadn't even thought about seeing everyone at graduation, what a nice thought that is. I would love to see all my classmates in person as well as our professors. You are correct in the thought, adjourning is an essential part of a team and I think of all of us in the class as a team to a degree, and what growth we have had over the last year!

  2. Hello Brittany,
It is always a privilege to work with a team to start a program from scratch but sad that you will not be there to see it grow. The adjourning phase of the five stages is bitter/sweet but has to be done. I also look forward to our graduation day to see everyone. Dora Adafom

  3. I understand how it feels when you work with a team through trial and error and you are successful. This bond made you a closer team. I wonder if your director saw that you and your team were competent and decided to use a passive strategy. Just looking on and not really giving any input. Personally I must say thank you Brittany. Your blogs, input and discussions have been very valuable. I am happy to be a part of your team.

  5. good post. It is certainly difficult to leave those you have worked so well with. It is nice to have established the trust with them, which makes it easier to pursue endeavours with them again in the future!
