My Support

There are two people in my life that support me and encourage me to be better on a daily bases, which are my mother and my child’s grandmother. Every day they call to check up on me and my baby. When I want to give up on this school situation, they encourage me to keep going. My mother understand what is like to be single mother working two jobs and in school. She pushes me and remind me that the outcome will be greater than the struggle. My child’s grandmother helps me with whatever I need her for, especially when it comes to the baby. She sends me daily words of encouragement and scriptures. They both want what is best for me and try their hardest to keep me from giving up. Their support benefit me, because when I think all odds are against me, I know that there are people rooting for me and believe in me. Without their support and love I do not think I would be here writing this post. I would have given up on school and just continue to work and care for my child the best way I could. If they were gone I do not know what I would do. Yes I have other support system, but there is nothing like a mother’s love.

  1. Brittany,

Your post tugged at my heartstrings. I am so happy for you that you have wonderful support that encourage you to keep up with your education. They are right, it will be worth it in the end. I am not a single mother but I feel the stress of managing a large center and going to school. I want to give up a lot too but as I complete each assignment and each class I feel a gratification that pushes me to the next task. We will get through this and be better early childhood educators from it.
Keep up the hard work and lean on those supports to get you through it all for you and for your child.

  2. Hi Brittany,
Mothers are one of the best support systems any one would ever want. Also, I can truly understand how you feel when you think about giving up. I believe that everyone who climbs the ladder for success and higher learning while working at the same time has thought about giving up. You are performing a great feat when you give up having fun and sleeping in late when you want and sometimes need to. I agree with your mother the sacrifice is worth the struggle. I always encourage my children to not stop until they receive their Doctoral. My oldest grandson has a Doctoral in psychology. He did not stop. My daughter on the other hand after receiving her MAED stopped and started working. Now it is hard for her to start back in school. One of my younger grandchildren is working toward her AA and now she is talking about taking a semester break to work. I am telling her the same thing don’t stop, don’t quit.
