Words of Inspiration and Motivation

“Everyday I go to work, I look forward to it because I know the services I’m providing to children is to their benefit.”
Raymond Hernandez MS ED (Executive Director)

“We need new ways of looking at the problems that characterize our early care and education system. The greater inclusion of teachers and providers will expand our leadership not only in numbers but in the breadth of potential ideas."
-Marcy Whitebook

“Access to many different playmates promotes young children to develop an interest in their peers and affords them many opportunities to develop play skills that are more advanced, more complex, and more coordinated with those of their peers.”
-Virginia Buysse

Personal Childhood Web

  • To the left is my mother- My mother is a great inspiration to me. She had me at the age of 17. Though she was young she had a very strong support system that did not give up on her. Being a young mom she did not know how to show love and affection to a young child but she quickly learned. She showed her love and affection toward me by spending time with me, taking me places and buying me things. She always pushed me to do my best at all things and never give up. Now that I am an adult she is my best friends and she continues to push me to strive to do whatever it is that I want to accomplish.
  • In the middle is my godmother- As long as I can remember she always came and got me and took me places. She was always that person I could go and talk to about anything and give me great advice. She was always there to cheer me up when I was having a bad day. When I just needed a vacation from home she would send me a plane ticket to come and visit her. When she found out two years ago that I was going to have a baby it was the greatest news of her life. She calls me everyday to make sure me and the baby are ok and if we need anything. She comes back and forth to Chicago to visit us often and we go visit her. She continues to inform me that just because I have a baby now does not mean that I have to give up on my dreams.
  • To the right is my father- You would of never known he was a young father. He has been there for me since the beginning. There is know doubt in anyone's mind about his love for me. Anyone that knows me know that he is my world. He has shown me how to be a lady and how a woman should be treated. We go on dates til this day. Growing up he would come and get me often and spend a lot of time with me. There is nothing in this world that my father would not do for me. There is not a day that goes by that I do not talk to him and til this day he tells me he loves me before we get off of the phone. He always sees the best in me and he shows me how proud of me he is.
  • Bottom left is my grandmother- With my mom being a teen parent, someone had to help her. I call my grandmother mom as well. She helped my mother raise me and she treated me as if I was her own. She tell all my friends and anyone that would listen that I am her baby. She tell me every day how proud of me she is and I am the only one that appreciate and listens to her. Just knowing that I make her proud I try my best to do be the best me I can.
  • Bottom left is my aunt- Growing up I would go spend the summer with my aunt and also on vacations. She would take me and my cousins on outing and have sleep overs for us. When I became older she became my role model. She is very intelligent, financially competent, has a great personality and give great advice. She often express how she is proud of the women that my cousins and I have become and want us to strive to be even better. She is on of the people that pushed to go back to school and obtain my Master's Degree. And I thank her for that.

A Heart Warming Moment

While working as a home visitor, I was seeing a mom who was bilingual. Mom spoke English but the child only spoke Spanish. As the months went on and I visited the family twice a week, I noticed that the child language had increased in both English and Spanish. One day I was preparing to leave the home and mom stopped me and said, "I appreciate everything you have done for me and my child. Before you started visiting, she barley talked now she is talking well in both Languages". I explained to mom that I was only doing my job and talked her for acknowledging my dedication to her and her child. This was a touching moment to me, because it warms my heart to know that I had part in helping that child with language development. Sometimes your greatest accomplishment in life is helping others.

Quote

I really love this quote because, if a child is involved in what you are trying to teach them they will learn more from the lesson. Hands on is more effective than lecturing.
